      No, extended range batteries are simply bigger versions of standard range batteries. This allows them to store more electricity and take you farther on a single charge. Vehicles that combine the use of a gas engine and electric motor are called hybrid or plug-in hybrid vehicles.

    How much does it cost to charge an electric vehicle?

    It depends on several factors, including the size of your vehicle's battery, local electricity rates, and the type of charging station used. Depending on where you live, your local utility company may also offer rebates or discounts. Some states, like Texas, even offer free daily home charging hours.       Do any EV chargers need apps?

      Yes, most electric vehicle chargers require apps to locate charging stations, check availability, start and stop charging sessions, and manage payments. The FordPass® app simplifies all this and gives you access to multiple networks with a single app.

      How long do EV batteries last?

      Depending on factors like usage, climate, and maintenance, EV batteries can last up to 10–20 years. Ford electric vehicles come with warranties covering the battery for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Over time, the battery’s capacity may gradually decline, but with proper care, EV batteries can remain efficient for many years before needing replacement.

      Do electric vehicles need oil changes?

      When you go electric, you might be surprised to learn what you don’t have to do. Because there are fewer moving parts in an all-electric vehicle, some services you may be used to, such as engine oil changes, will not be required.       How do I find EV charging stations?

      You can find public charging stations for your electric vehicle by using the FordPass® app on your vehicle’s display or on your phone.

        How do EV charging stations work?

        Use your navigation system or charging app to find a station along your route. Turn off your vehicle, open the charging port, and plug in the cable. The BlueOval™ Charge Network has industry-standard J1772 connectors. If you’d like to use a Tesla SuperCharger, you’ll need an adapter. Monitor progress on the station screen or your vehicle’s display. Once complete, payment will be processed automatically if you have Plug & Charge enabled.         How long does it take to charge an electric car?

        The time it takes depends on the charger type and battery size. If you’re in a pinch on the road, DC fast chargers can take a 2024 Mustang Mach-E® with standard-range battery from 10%–80% in approximately 32.3 minutes. At home, the Ford Charge Station Pro can charge an F-150 Lightning® with an extended-range battery in as few as nine hours (15%–100%) and the Ford Connected Charge Station (48A) plugged into a 240v outlet can charge a Mustang Mach-E with an extended-range battery and RWD in an EPA-estimated 10.1 hours (0%–100%).*

        Can EVs use HOV lanes?

        In many areas, electric vehicles are allowed to use the High-Occupancy Vehicle lanes — even if there's only one person inside. The goal is to encourage EV adoption and reduce road congestion. Rules can vary by state or region, so check whether EVs qualify and if any permits are required.
