This Applicant Privacy Notice (“Notice”) explains how Ford Motor Company and members of the Ford Motor Company family of companies and affiliates who link to our careers website (collectively, “Ford,” “we”, “us,” or “our”) collect, use, store, and otherwise disclose the Personal Information (as defined below) of job applicants, candidates, and other individuals who provide information as part of our job application process, including the Personal Information we collect from our careers site (https://efds.fa.em5.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/CandidateExperience) (“Applicants” or “you”). Our “family of companies” is the group of companies related to us by common control or ownership.
If you choose to provide your phone number for SMS/text messaging communications, please review our SMS Terms and Conditions section of this Notice for important information about your consent to receive texts to wireless telephone numbers.
The Ford entity that will be the controller processing your Personal Information may be one or more of the following: (1) the Ford entity you submit your application to, and/or (2) the Ford entity with whom you have a relationship, and/or (3) Ford US.
Applicants should review the Global Disclosures section for specific information about Ford’s privacy practices in specific locations. This Notice may also be supplemented by policies specific to local Ford entities. If there is a conflict or inconsistency between the local notice and this Global Privacy Notice, the local notice will take precedence.

Personal Information We Collect
“Personal Information” means any information related to an identified or identifiable natural person, subject to applicable data protection laws. Personal Information includes the term “personal data” as used in data privacy laws, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
We may collect the following types of Personal Information from Applicants depending on the nature of your interactions with us. Note that the specific Personal Information we collect about you may not include all the examples listed and we will follow the Personal Information collection limitations and requirements of the country where you are applying for a position.
- Contact Information, including name, mailing address, email, phone, other names (nickname, alias, etc.), and social media handles.
- Demographic Information, including age, gender, race, nationality, disability, and veteran status (as permitted in your country of residence).
- Preferences, including information such as position specifics (such as office location and hours per week).
- Account Details, including account names, passwords, and security questions.
- Content of Communications, including application submissions (such as cover letters) and communications regarding the application process.
- Professional and Employment-Related Information, including work experience, educational information, qualifications, skills, references, recommendations; other information included in a resume, CV, application form, or cover letter; information provided in interviews and through screening questions; information contained in any personal webpages or documents you choose to share with us; and responses to behavioral or other screening questions.
- Eligibility Documentation, including proof of work authorizations, citizenship, immigration, visa status, and government identifiers.
- Internet or Other Electronic Network Activity Information, including IP address, mobile network provider, and other network related information.
- Location Data, where, depending on your browser settings, we also collect location data, including location data inferred from your IP address or when you input your address.
- New Hire and Onboarding Documentation, including background checks, tax and other government forms, and medical/drug test information (as permitted in your country of residence).
How We Collect Personal Information
We may collect the Applicant Personal Information identified above from the following sources.
- Directly from you. We collect information from you when you visit or create a profile on our careers page, during the recruitment process, and throughout your interactions with us as an Applicant, including through our information technology systems, company forms and processes where Applicants submit information to us (such as pre-employment forms), and surveys.
- Automatically when using our digital services or visiting our premises. We collect information about you when you use our information technology services and when you access our facilities, such as for job interviews (including video surveillance information).
- Created by us. We collect information about you that we create, such as interview notes, credentials for access to our recruitment systems, or inferences generated from other information we collect.
- Recruitment Agencies. We collect information from recruitment agencies who provide your application materials and information about your candidacy.
- References and Verifications. We collect information from third parties who provide references (such as former employers) and to verify your qualifications (such as universities or other organizations where you may have earned a degree or completed a certification).
- Public Sources. We collect Personal Information through an internet search, your public social media presence (such as LinkedIn), or publicly available business sites (such as your current employer), and other online sources.
- Service Providers. We collect information about you from certain service providers that provide information to help us perform recruitment functions and run our business (such as background check providers).
- Affiliates. We receive information from the companies within the Ford Motor Company family of companies and affiliates as a normal part of conducting business and carrying out recruitment activities.
- Third parties. We may receive information about you from other third parties when necessary to evaluate your candidacy or manage or operate our business.
How We Use Personal Information
We may use Applicant Personal Information for the following purposes.
- Recruiting and Applicant Management. We use your Personal Information to open and maintain your application records; create an Applicant profile; assess your eligibility for employment; communicate with you regarding your application and the recruitment process; and support our recruitment and diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and initiatives.
- Community Engagement. We may use your Personal Information to manage Applicant events, talent communities, and other programs and services related to the recruitment process.
- Accommodations. We may use your Personal Information to make adjustments in relation to accommodating your disability or health condition.
- Work Authorization. We may process your Personal Information to confirm your right to work in the relevant locality, whether Applicants are named on any restricted party listings, including sanctions lists, and to fulfill other screening requirements based on the role applied for and location of the position.
- New Hire Onboarding. If you are extended an offer of employment, we will use your Personal Information to perform background checks (with additional disclosures), process your employment documentation, establish your credentials, and otherwise establish our employment relationship with you.
- Legal Obligations and Security. We may process your Personal Information to prevent, investigate, identify, or take any other action with regard to suspected or actual fraudulent or illegal activity, or any activity that violates or may violate applicable laws, regulations, or legal process and our policies. We may process your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal process as well as industry standards and our company policies.
- Corporate Restructuring. We may use your Personal Information to evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which Personal Information held by us is among the assets transferred.
- Consent. We may use your Personal Information for such other purposes you consent to.
We generally rely on the lawful basis of taking steps to enter into a contract when reviewing your application materials and making determinations about employment. In addition, we may continue to process your Personal Information based on your consent to notify you about future job opportunities. Additionally, we may process your Personal Information to operate our business, meet our contractual and legal obligations, and protect the security of our systems and personnel.
Parties To Whom We Disclose Personal Information
We disclose Applicant Personal Information with your consent, when you direct us to disclose it with others, or as necessary to process your application. We may disclose your Personal Information for the purposes above to the following entities and individuals.
- Service Providers. We disclose your Personal Information to service providers that help us perform recruitment functions and run our business (such as Oracle, Corporation 100 Oracle Parkway, Redwood Shores, CA 94065, who hosts our careers site; and Eightfold AI Inc., 2625 Augustine Drive, Suite 601, Santa Clara, CA 95054, who provide us with a Talent Intelligence Platform).
- Affiliates. We disclose your Personal Information within the Ford Motor Company family of companies and affiliates as a normal part of conducting business and carrying out recruitment activities.
- Recruitment agencies, references, and verifications. We may disclose Personal Information about you when we request information from recruitment agencies, individual references, and other parties that provide information related to your candidacy.
- Law enforcement agencies, courts, regulatory agencies, and other government agencies. We may disclose your Personal Information to comply with reporting obligations (such as anti‐discrimination laws), legal processes (such as court order, subpoena) or other legal requirements of any governmental authority, in connection with threatened or actual litigation, to protect our legal rights or property, to protect the legal rights or property or physical security of others, or for the prevention or detection of crime where such disclosure is lawful.
- Parties to corporate transactions. As permitted by law, we may disclose your Personal Information as part of a corporate transaction or proceeding, such as a merger, financing, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, or at transfer, divestiture, or sale of all or a portion of a business or assets.
Information Obtained through Interactive Features
We may engage vendors to provide certain interactive features on our careers site. Your use of these interactive features is voluntary, and we may retain the information that you submit through the features. For example, we may offer an interactive chat feature to answer questions and for other customer service purposes. Where Ford makes chat features available, we utilize service providers. Our service providers that support chat features only use chat communications to support and improve the Ford chat experience. When you participate in the interactive chat, either with a virtual or live agent, the contents of the chat may be captured and kept as a transcript for training, quality assurance, and analytics purposes. By using these features, you understand that our vendors may process the information obtained through the feature to provide the service on our behalf.
As part of the application process, we may use screening software to record interviews and administer assessments. We will use this software to collect your Personal Information and analyze your suitability for employment. This software may use automated processing, as described in this Notice.
When you choose to apply for a position using a third-party platform, such as LinkedIn or Indeed, we will import your Personal Information from that platform. We may collect your Personal Information from your profile on that platform or other social media sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party platforms and recommend that you review the privacy notices of such third-party platforms in order to better understand their privacy practices.
Automated Processing
We may use artificial intelligence, algorithms, and other automated means to process your Personal Information as part of the recruitment process. You may have certain rights related to such automated processing, which may vary depending on your location and the location of the job you are applying to.
To help match your candidate profile with a possible position, we will use a profiling algorithm that looks at the skills in the job description and historical selection criteria to create the position calibration, supported by candidate pipelines and the match score of candidates and applicants. You will not be subject to decisions that will have a significant impact on you based solely on automated decision-making unless we have notified you and have a lawful basis for doing so.
Choice and Control of Personal Information
You can access, edit, or delete some of the Personal Information we have collected by logging into your account and accessing the information displayed in your profile or account settings. You can delete your historical applications and profile at any time using the Manage Your Profile settings.
Subject to applicable data protection laws, you may have some rights related to your Personal Information, including the right to:
- Request access to or a copy of your Personal Information that we collect, use, and/or disclose.
- Request that your Personal Information be corrected, updated, and/or completed if you become aware that any Personal Information we hold about you is incorrect or if you wish to update your Personal Information.
- Obtain your Personal Information in an electronic format, and to transmit such Personal Information to another data controller.
- Object to or restrict collection, use, disclosure, or other processing of your Personal Information under certain circumstances.
- Withdraw your consent to process your Personal Information in circumstances where our collection, use, disclosure, or other processing is based on your consent.
- Request that we delete, destroy, or anonymize Personal Information that we have collected, used, disclosed, or otherwise processed about you.
If you wish to exercise any of your rights regarding your Personal Information, ask questions about this Notice, or file a complaint, please submit a corresponding request to our Data Protection Office using the information provided in the How to Contact Us section of this Notice. However, if you believe that applicable data protection laws have not been complied with, you may also have the right to file a complaint directly to the relevant data protection authority. For more information, please contact your local data protection authority.
Under applicable law and depending on the sensitivity of the Personal Information, we may need to verify your identity and the validity of the request before fulfilling your request. This may require you to provide your name, email address, and a government ID that we will match against our records to verify your identity.
The exercise of these rights may be restricted by the applicable law in your country of residence or locality and exemptions permitted under relevant laws. In some cases, we may lawfully refuse your request, such as where we are legally obligated or have a court order. However, if we refuse to comply with your request, we will inform you of the reason as required by law.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights under applicable law.
Retention of Personal Information
If you do not receive an offer for a position, we retain Personal Information associated with your application for up to 100 days after the position has been filled. If you sign up to receive updates about new jobs, we will retain your Personal Information for up to 24 months.
When you successfully obtain a job with Ford, we will convert your Personal Information to your employee file. We will not delete your candidate profile due to legitimate technical and organizational purposes. However, you may update and remove your Personal Information from your candidate profile at any time through the editing function.
We keep the other categories of Personal Information described above for as long as is necessary for the purposes described in this Notice or otherwise authorized by law. This generally means holding each category of Personal Information for as long as it is reasonably necessary for us to manage your application, our operations, or your relationship with us; satisfy another purpose for which we collected the information; or carry out a disclosed purpose that is reasonably compatible with the context in which the Personal Information was collected. We may also maintain your Personal Information where it is reasonably required to protect or defend our rights or property (which will generally relate to applicable laws that limit actions in a particular case) or where we are otherwise required or permitted to keep your Personal Information by applicable laws or regulations.
Where Personal Information is used for more than one purpose or you apply for multiple positions, we may retain it until the purpose with the latest period expires. Location of Personal Information
The Personal Information we collect from Applicants may be stored in, accessed from, and processed in the United States, your country or region, or in any other country where we or our affiliates, subsidiaries, or vendors maintain facilities. The storage location(s) are chosen to operate efficiently and improve performance. We take steps designed to ensure that the data we collect under this Notice is processed according to the provisions of this Notice and applicable law wherever the data is located. Please be aware that the data protection laws and regulations that apply to your Personal Information that is transferred to the United States or other countries may be different from the laws in your country of residence and different standards may apply to how your Personal Information is used and protected. We use appropriate safeguards to ensure your Personal Information is protected in accordance with applicable legal requirements. Where applicable, we use standard contractual clauses to govern the transfer of your Personal Information, including the European Union approved Standard Contractual Clauses.
Where your consent is required to transfer Personal Information to a recipient outside of your relevant jurisdiction, we will only transfer your Personal Information with your consent. Because the Applicant review process is international in nature, you will be unable to apply online with us if you do not consent to such transfer. You can withdraw your consent by contacting Ford using the information in the How to Contact Us section of this Notice.
Security of Personal Information
Safeguarding Personal Information is important to us. While no systems, applications, or websites are 100% secure, we take reasonable and appropriate steps to help protect Personal Information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
To help us protect Personal Information, we request that you use a strong password, never disclose your password to anyone, and never use the same password with other sites or accounts.
Changes to this Privacy Notice
We will update this Notice when necessary to reflect changes in applicable law and how we collect, use, and disclose Personal Information. When we update the Notice, we will change the “Effective Date” at the top of the Notice. If we make material changes to the Notice, we will provide notice or obtain consent regarding such changes as may be required by law.

If the processing of Personal Information about you is subject to European Union data protection law, you have certain rights with respect to that data. In addition to the rights outlined in the Choice and Control of Personal Information section above, you may also have the following rights:
- If any automated processing of Personal Information is based on your consent or a contract with you, you have a right to transfer or receive a copy of the Personal Information in a usable and portable format;
- For residents of France, you can send us specific instructions regarding the use of your data after your death.

When we are processing data on behalf of another party that is the “data controller,” you should direct your request to that party. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you have any questions or concerns about your data, please contact our Data Protection Office.
Please note that the provision of Personal Information is a contractual requirement or a requirement necessary to enter into a contract. If you fail to provide such Personal Information we cannot complete and assess your application for the purposes listed above.

Ford Australia may disclose your Personal Information to its related companies and third-party service providers for purposes set out in this Job Applicant Privacy Notice. Some of the recipients of your Personal Information may be overseas. Please refer to the Ford Australia Privacy Policy (available at www.ford.com.au/privacy/fordaustralia) for information on overseas disclosures. In some circumstances, Ford Australia may receive sensitive information from prospective employees or employees. If you provide sensitive information to Ford Australia for any reason, you consent to the collection of that information and to its use and disclosure for the purpose for which you provided it and as permitted by relevant laws. The Ford Australia Privacy Policy states how you can seek to access or correct your Personal Information, how to complain about a privacy breach and how Ford Australia will deal with a privacy complaint.
China
By submitting your job application, you are voluntarily providing your Personal Information to Ford Motor (China) Ltd. and its affiliates in China (“Ford China”), and therefore acknowledge and agree that Ford China and its affiliates within the global Ford Group (“Ford”) may collect, store, analyze, use, (cross-border) transfer, disclose, archive, delete, or take any other related or similar measures (each and together as “Process(ing)”) involving your Personal Information that is provided by you or any third party that you authorize for the purpose of your job application and recruitment.
You understand that Ford China does not require sensitive information to be provided unless necessary. In case of any sensitive Personal Information provided in relation to the application (such as your identity document information), you specifically consent to such Processing of your Personal Information.
Separately, you understand and consent that Ford China, Ford, and/or the relevant third party can continue retaining and Processing your Personal Information for the purpose of human resource management (e.g., maintaining the talent pool) or for other purposes required by PRC laws and regulations, after the completion of your job application process (and even if you are not hired or recruited by Ford China). You authorize investigation of all statements contained in the form and understand that any false statements made therein will be sufficient cause for offer letter withdrawal or labor contract termination.

Korea
Collection of Sensitive Personal Information
We will obtain your consent before collecting or processing your sensitive Personal Information.
Disclosing Personal Information to a Third Party
When appropriate, outsourcing of Personal Information to a third party shall be subject to an agreement that: (1) prevents Personal Information processing for other purposes than the outsourced purpose, (2) requires technical and managerial safeguards of Personal Information, and (3) ensures compliance with other matters prescribed by Presidential Decree to ensure safe management of Personal Information. When outsourcing Personal Information processing, we shall disclose the details of the outsourced work and the entity that processes Personal Information under an outsourcing contract in the matter prescribed by Presidential Decree so that data subjects may recognize it with ease at any time.
Cross-Border Transfer of Personal Information
Where your Personal Information will be transferred across international borders, we shall inform you of the matters provided for in the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and obtain the consent from you to provide Personal Information to a third party overseas. The Location of Personal Information section above shall act as notice of transfer for your application materials. We shall not enter into a contract for the cross-border transfer of Personal Information in violation of PIPA. New Zealand
Ford Motor Company of New Zealand Ltd (Ford New Zealand) is collecting your Personal Information. Ford New Zealand may disclose your Personal Information to its related companies and third-party service providers for purposes set out in this Job Applicant Privacy Notice. We will process sensitive Personal Information only when we have obtained your express consent, or when we are permitted by law to do so on a legal basis other than consent. In addition, we may request additional consent from you on a case-by-case basis for the processing of any sensitive Personal Information for which we cannot rely on legal bases other than requesting consent.
Uruguay
Relevant Personal Information will initially be stored in Oracle and Eightfold databases which are acting as Ford's processor. Your data will be included in a database registered by Ford Uruguay SA before the Data Protection Authority called Unidad Reguladora y de Control de Datos Personales “URCDP”. You do not need to provide your consent but given the international nature of our Applicant review process, if you do not consent to transfers indicated above, you will be unable to apply online with us.
California
If you are a resident of California and interact with us as an Applicant, this California section provides additional detail about how Ford collects, uses, and discloses your Personal Information within the context of your interactions with us as an Applicant. It also explains your rights relating to Personal Information under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (the “CCPA”).
Unless otherwise noted, the information below that describes how and why we collect and use your information also describes how we have collected and used information in the preceding twelve (12) months.

Sensitive Personal Information

We do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising the Personal Information of California Applicants that we collect in the recruitment context. California Privacy Rights and How to Submit a Request
If you have a profile on Ford’s Applicant portal, you may access, delete, or correct certain Personal Information by logging into your account and accessing your profile or account settings.
If you are a resident of California, you also have the right to submit certain requests relating to your Personal Information as described below. To exercise any of these rights, please call us at 1 (888) 459-1291 or submit a request through our webform (if submitting a request on your own behalf, please select “I don’t have an active account” when prompted). Please note that to submit a request to know, request to delete, or request to correct, you may be asked to log into Ford’s Applicant Portal to verify your identity. If you do not have an account to verify your identity, please call us at 1 (888) 459-1291 to submit a request, in which case we will collect other information to verify your identity. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; however, you will still need to verify your identity directly with us before your request can be processed. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf using the toll-free number listed above.
Right to Know. You have the right to know what Personal Information we have collected about you, which includes:
- The categories of Personal Information we have collected about you, including:
- The categories of sources from which the Personal Information was collected;
- Our business purposes for collecting Personal Information;
- The categories of recipients to which we disclose Personal Information;
- The categories of Personal Information that we disclosed for a business purpose, and for each category identified, the categories of recipients to whom we disclosed that particular category of Personal Information; and

Ford may send you informational and marketing text messages that are recurring or one-time messages (the “Services”) about the job application process.
Opt-Out
You can cancel at any time by texting "STOP" to 367387. After you send the message “STOP” to us, we will send you a message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive text messages from the Job Application Process campaign. If you would like to rejoin the text campaign, text “START” or “UNSTOP” to 367387 to re-enroll.
Help
If at any time you forget what keywords are supported, just text “HELP” to the telephone number you received a message from. After you text “HELP” to us, we will respond with instructions on how to contact our Customer Relationship Center as well as instructions about how to unsubscribe.
Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. We do not charge for the Services, but you are responsible for all charges and fees associated with text messaging imposed by your wireless provider. If you have any questions about your text or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
Ford is not liable for any delays in the receipt of any text messages. Currently, the Services are supported by the following carriers: AT&T, Sprint/Boost/Virgin, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, and Verizon Wireless. Please note, however, that the supporting mobile carriers may change without notice, and the particular text message service you join, including those operated through a different number, may be limited to specific carriers. Ford and the mobile carriers (for example, T-Mobile) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We may change any short code or telephone number we use to operate the Services at any time and will notify you of these changes by sending a message from the new short code or telephone number. You acknowledge that any messages, including any STOP or HELP requests, you send to a short code or telephone number we have changed may not be received and we will not be responsible for honoring requests made in such messages. We may also modify or cancel the Services or any of its features without notice. We may also modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.
Your Mobile Telephone Number
You represent that you are the account holder for the mobile telephone number(s) that you provided to use the Service.
Privacy
Information collected or obtained from you in connection with the Services may include your mobile phone number, your carrier’s name, and the date time and content of your messages and other information you provide to Ford as part of this service. Ford may use this information to contact you and provide services you request from Ford. Ford may also use this information as described in the Services you’ve enrolled in. Ford may use an automatic dialing system to deliver text messages to you.
