How do I control Home Backup Power for my Ford F-150® Lightning®?

You can customize your Home Backup Power preferences through your electric vehicle's (EV) touchscreen, giving you the ability to start or stop backup power, as well as set your operating mode and energy reserve.

Adjusting Home Backup Power

Confirm your SYNC system and select your SYNC generation to learn how to change your Home Backup Power settings:

Take the following steps to update your Home Backup Power settings:

  1. Tap on the Vehicle/Settings icon.
  2. Scroll down and select Intelligent Backup Power. The "Controls" screen displays the following:
    • System status
    • Estimated time remaining for backup power
    • The Start/Stop Transfer button
  3. Tap on the Settings tab or Settings button.

  4. Update your Home Backup Power settings:
    • Operation Mode:
      • Automatic: When your system detects a power outage, it will automatically power your home.
      • Manual: During an outage, you will have to turn Home Backup Power on in your vehicle.
    • Energy Reserve: Move the slider left or right to preserve the minimal amount of range you require to drive your vehicle.
    • Add a New Station: Select this option to add another Charge Station Pro.
