How do I start or stop a charge session for my Ford electric vehicle?
You can control your charging session with the FordPass®* App or Public Charging App on your vehicle's touchscreen.
Starting and Stopping a Charging Session
Select from the options below to learn how to start and stop a charge session for your Ford electric vehicle (EV):
Using the Public Charging App (in-vehicle)
- Select the Home button on your vehicle's touchscreen.
- Tap Public Charging.
Select the charger location.
- If you are greater than 50 meters away, tap the navigation button for directions to the charger. Tap I'm Here Now when you arrive.
- If you are less than 50 meters away, go to the next step.
Match the name and number on the charger to the one in the Public Charging App and tap Activate.
- Plug in the charger once the "Activate" button changes to "Plug In".
Press Stop in the Public Charging App or press the Stop button in your vehicle's charge port once your vehicle reaches the desired charge level.
- Unplug the charger once the "Stop" button changes to "Unplug".
Using the FordPass App
Open FordPass and tap Energy.
Select Public Charging.
Use the search field or select for nearby public chargers.
Match the name or number on the charger to the one on FordPass and tap Activate.
- Plug in your vehicle when indicated by FordPass.
- Press the Stop button located in your vehicle's charge port once your vehicle reaches the desired charge level.
- Unplug the charging cord once the station indicates the session is over.
Note: FordPass offers additional options to stop your charging session for AC Level 1 and Level 2 charging locations:
- If you saved the charging location, tap Stop on the FordPass Vehicle screen or Energy screen.
- Otherwise, tap Stop on the FordPass Vehicle screen.
