What do I do if I am having issues with SYNC 4A or SYNC 4 Navigation?

If you are having problems with your SYNC®* 4A or SYNC 4 Navigation, ensure your subscription status is active, your modem is activated, and vehicle connectivity settings are enabled.

To address your navigation issues: 

  1. Ensure your subscription is active.
    1. Open a new tab and log in to your Ford Account.
    2. Select Connected Services in the "Quick Links" section to see your subscription information. 
      • If Connected Built-in Navigation shows "Expired," you must renew it before using the navigation service.
      • If nothing is displayed for your subscription status, your vehicle is not eligible for the navigation service. 
      • If your account shows "Active," no further action is needed.
  2. Confirm your vehicle's modem is activated.
  3. Verify that the vehicle's connectivity features are all enabled on your vehicle's SYNC system:
    1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
    2. Select Connectivity
    3. Choose Connectivity Vehicle Features
    4. Scroll down through the list and toggle the switch to On for all the following features: 
      • Connected Navigation
      • Location Services 
      • Vehicle Data
      • Vehicle Connectivity 

Note: After performing these steps, you can also test any applications that require navigation (e.g., YELP, HERE, TomTom, AccuWeather, INRIX, or Garmin), if equipped.

If you have completed the steps above and you are still experiencing an issue: 

  1. Ensure that your vehicle is on and running in a well-ventilated area, and it is in Park (P). 
  2. Perform a SYNC module reset.
  3. Refresh the system with a key cycle.
