4.X series software update started in November 2023

What Version 4.X Series Software Update Does

The 4.X series software update provides a number of in-vehicle feature enhancements based on your Ford model. Availability of some of these features and their updates does vary by model and is subject to change.

Which Vehicles Are Receiving This Software Update

Most Ford owners with the following 2021, 2022, and 2023 models started receiving the 4.X series software updates beginning in March of 2023:

  • Bronco®
  • Edge®
  • Escape®
  • Expedition®
  • F-150®
  • F-150 Lightning®
  • Mustang Mach-E®
  • Super Duty®
  • Transit®

Please note this is a phased rollout and not all owners will receive these updates at the same time. Check the FordPass® App* or your in-vehicle settings for your latest software updates.

What’s Included in This Software Update Series

The 4.X series includes a variety of software enhancements, new features, and quality recalls for these models, both in-vehicle as well as in-app:

  • 2021, 2022, and 2023 Bronco SUV:
    • Enhancements to the Rear View Camera, software update scheduling, Flat Tow, Phone As A Key,** and Dynamic Resizing with Apple CarPlay®
    • New features include Wi-Fi® Captive Portal
  • 2021, 2022, and 2023 Edge SUV:
    • Enhancements to software update scheduling, SYNC® 4A design,** Phone As A Key,** and Dynamic Resizing with Apple CarPlay
    • New features include Wi-Fi® Captive Portal and Record Feedback
  • 2023 Escape SUV:
    • Enhancements to software update scheduling, and Dynamic Resizing with Apple CarPlay
    • New features include Wi-Fi® Captive Portal
  • 2022 and 2023 Expedition SUV:
    • Enhancements to software update scheduling, SYNC 4A design,** Phone As A Key,** and Dynamic Resizing with Apple CarPlay
    • New features include Wi-Fi® Captive Portal, Dual Phone, and Record Feedback
  • 2021, 2022, and 2023 F-150 truck:
    • Enhancements to trailer and tailgate settings, Rear View Camera, software update scheduling, Phone As A Key** and Dynamic Resizing with Apple CarPlay
    • New features include Wi-Fi® Captive Portal
  • 2022 and 2023 F-150 Lightning truck:
    • Enhancements to software update scheduling, SYNC 4A design,** DC Fast Charging, Phone As A Key** and Dynamic Resizing with Apple CarPlay
    • New features include Wi-Fi® Captive Portal, Record Feedback, and Video Streaming
  • 2021, 2022, and 2023 Mustang Mach-E SUV:
    • Enhancements to software update scheduling, SYNC 4A design,** DC Fast Charging, Phone As A Key,** and Dynamic Resizing with Apple CarPlay
    • New features include Games, Wi-Fi® Captive Portal, and Record Feedback
  • 2023 Super Duty truck:
    • Enhancements to trailer and tailgate settings
  • 2023 Transit van:
    • Enhancements to software update scheduling, plus Dynamic Resizing with Apple CarPlay

You can find more details about this latest software update series on your in-vehicle touchscreen by selecting Settings > Software Update. You can also find details in your FordPass App account under Vehicle > Features & Settings > Software Updates.
