Feature Highlight: 6.X Series Software Update

6.X series software update started in October 2023

What Version 6.X Series Software Update Does

The 6.X series software update provides a number of vehicle feature improvements for Mustang Mach-E® owners. Availability of some of these features and their updates does vary by model and is subject to change.

Which Vehicles Are Receiving This Software Update

Most Ford owners with the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E models may have started receiving this 6.X series software update beginning in October 2023. Please note this is a phased rollout and not all owners will receive these updates at the same time.

What’s Included in This Software Update Series

The 6.X series includes a variety of feature updates and improvements in-vehicle as well as in-app:

  • Battery range and charging:
    • Heated steering wheel: Heat your steering wheel as you prepare your battery for your day, all while your vehicle is still plugged in.
    • Earlier preconditioning**: Pre-heat or pre-cool your vehicle battery and cabin from the FordPass App* up to two hours before your next drive, all while your vehicle is still plugged in. Go to the vehicle icon in your FordPass App to get started.
    • Charging session summary: Review your charging session summary more easily, with details on the state of charge, cost, distance added, charge time, and even the balance on your subscription, if applicable.
    • Improved DC fast charging: We’ve enhanced the charging module to help improve performance of DC fast charging for your EV.
    • Enhanced Intelligent Range: Our newly enhanced intelligent range works with your Ford navigation system by factoring in aspects like traffic speed, external temperature, and hill grades along the route you select. This helps give you more accurate range estimates so you can travel with even more confidence now in your EV.
    • New Public Charging view: Use the MAP view in the Public Charging application found on your center touchscreen display. This adds to the already available List view here.

  • BlueCruise: Available Ford BlueCruise 1.3 builds on BlueCruise 1.2 features like Lane Change Assist and In-Lane Repositioning to provide the following:††
    • Significantly enhances hands-free highway driving performance, including greater ability to navigate in curves and narrow lanes.
    • Stays engaged in hands-free mode for an average of 5x longer compared to BlueCruise 1.0.
    • Stays engaged in hands-free mode for an average of 3x longer when navigating curves compared to BlueCruise 1.2.

  • Additional BlueCruise updates:
    • Updated Ford BlueCruise map to help keep things running smoothly.
    • Driver assistance settings are now active. Simply go to your SYNC® 4A touchscreen’s Driver Assistance section to confirm that your Adaptive Cruise and Lane Centering Assist settings are set to ON.
    • We’ve adjusted the Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking feature in your vehicle. With this feature, if you’re driving and approaching potential hazards in the roadway, the Forward Collision Warning will activate an audible warning chime and display a flashing image in your dashboard instrument cluster.

To see which BlueCruise version and software update you currently have, go to Settings and select Software Updates in your vehicle touchscreen. The Update Details section will include the latest software update that your vehicle has received. Vehicles eligible for newer versions of BlueCruise will receive those updates via software updates on a rolling basis.

  • Information, virtual assistance, and entertainment:
    • AM broadcast radio: This feature is now available for listening on your vehicle audio system. You can control it just like FM or SiriusXM® channels. Having AM broadcast radio in your vehicle gives you even more flexibility to access your favorite sports, talk, and news content — and receive any Emergency Alert System notifications, too.
    • Screen designs: Your in-vehicle touchscreen graphics may look a bit different. We further streamlined the design to simplify navigation and help you find what you’re looking for. There’s now a smaller top bar on your screen. We also moved some icons to make things easier to view, and added a button to help you access your own user profile on your center touchscreen as well.
    • Record feedback: It’s now easier for you to share your vehicle experiences with Ford. You can record and send voice feedback almost anytime from the convenience of your vehicle, by selecting General Menu > Settings in your vehicle’s center touchscreen. This record feedback feature will be available on your vehicle touchscreen whenever your vehicle is activated in the FordPass App. Find the new record feedback microphone icon and keep letting us know what you think about your Ford vehicle experiences.

  • Heating and cooling: Enhancements to your vehicle heating system (HVAC) improve its heating performance and help reduce fogging under certain humid conditions.

  • Remote access:
    • Phone As A Key: It’s now easier to set up Phone As A Key since you can now edit and save your settings right in the driver profile section of your vehicle’s SYNC touchscreen. There, you can also manage your Phone As A Key settings in your driver profile by selecting Personal Profile > Edit > Phone. You can also set up automatic sign-in, so your driver profile is ready as soon as you enter your vehicle.

  • Software update process: This update now lets you receive new pop-up alerts when a condition for update is not met, enabling you to act faster to get your vehicle software update. For non-drivable updates, conditions may include that your vehicle is parked, not running, lights are turned off, trunk is closed, and you’re not pressing the brake pedal.

  • Vehicle interior and storage:
    • Motion sensor alarm: Easily turn off the motion sensor alarm in your vehicle settings screen or alert pop-up. This way, when you have a passenger or pet inside your vehicle, they can move around even if you’re outside the vehicle.
    • Open frunk warning: If your frunk is open or even slightly ajar, you’ll now hear a louder alert chime.
    • Liftgate performance: We’ve made some adjustments to your liftgate to optimize its performance.
