Feature Highlight: AM Broadcast Radio Software Update
Software update 6.X series started in November 2023
What AM Broadcast Radio Does
AM radio reliably broadcasts a variety of top sports, talk, and news programs to your Ford vehicle, along with important local and national Emergency Alert System notifications.
Which Vehicles Are Receiving This Software Update
The following Ford EV (electric vehicle) models will receive this AM broadcast radio software update:
- 2023 Ford Mustang® Mach-E® SUV
- 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning® truck
Please note this is a phased rollout and not all owners will receive these updates at the same time. Check the FordPass® App* or your in-vehicle settings for your latest software updates.
What’s Included in This Software Update
Ford has moved quickly to reverse a decision to phase out AM broadcast radio from its vehicles. It’s now providing a software update to restore AM radio in two EV models, the 2023 Mustang Mach-E and the 2023 F-150 Lightning. Outside of this software update, other 2024 and later Ford models will once again include built-in AM broadcast radio capability — including the 2024 Mustang® model before it arrives at dealerships. Visit the Software Update FAQs to learn how to view your latest software update details and get answers to all your software questions.
What AM Broadcast Radio Does to Your Vehicle
AM radio allows you to get crucial news and information reliably in your vehicle across much longer distances than many other forms of broadcast media. It’s a popular option for daily audio content, and a solid way to ensure owners always have access to important programs and updates almost anywhere on the road — including in rural or remote areas without good web or cell service. While keeping AM radio available in future EVs and gas-powered vehicles, Ford plans to also continue innovating its audio options and accessibility.
Where You Can Find AM Broadcast Radio in Your Vehicle
Listen to AM broadcast radio on your available in-vehicle touchscreen or audio system. You can control it just like you would other FM or SiriusXM® channels. Owners can continue to get AM radio content in their vehicles in a variety of ways, including via streaming.
When You Should Use AM Broadcast Radio
AM broadcast radio in your vehicle brings even more options and flexibility for accessing your favorite audio content on the go. It’s especially useful for important news and emergency updates during times where other audio avenues could potentially be harder to access or temporarily unavailable.
