Ford Security Package*

A Ford F-150 truck is parked in a residential driveway.

Theft happens. Don’t let it happen to you.

Help protect one of your most valuable investments with the available Ford Security Package. Get Theft Alerts if your truck is tampered with and remotely disable your truck via FordPass® app** so it can’t be started, even if someone has an authorized key nearby. Take advantage of Stolen Vehicle Services — a dedicated 800 number with live agents who will work directly with law enforcement to help track and recover your truck if it’s stolen. Included for a year from new-vehicle warranty start date.

Theft Alerts

Get customizable FordPass notifications that will alert you if someone tries to access, start, move, or factory-reset your truck. You’ll need push notifications enabled from FordPass to program and receive these alerts.

Available on select 2024–2025 F-150® (excluding F-150® Lightning®) and select 2025 Super Duty® trucks.

Theft Alerts FAQs

What are the Theft Alerts?
Currently the vehicle monitors and sends an alert for the following use cases:

  • A detected potential intrusion
  • Movement/incline in the vehicle position
  • Hardware disabled
  • Inconsistent location information
  • Door open/ajar
  • A factory-reset attempt
  • Forceful impact

Why am I not receiving Theft Alerts?
Push notifications must be enabled in your FordPass app to receive Theft Alerts.

Why are other people receiving Theft Alerts about my vehicle?
All authorized FordPass® account users associated with the enrolled VIN will receive alerts.

Start Inhibit

Lost or stolen key? Going away for a while? Remotely lock down your truck so it can’t be started even if someone has an authorized key nearby. Start Inhibit is available on your FordPass home screen so that you can activate at any moment with a simple on-off toggle button.

For extra assurance, when you turn on Start Inhibit, FordPass also gives you an optional 12-digit one-time use deactivation PIN, so you can choose whether you turn it back off in FordPass or by tapping the PIN into the center screen of your truck.

Available on select 2024-2025 F-150® (excluding F-150® Lightning®) and 2025 Super Duty® trucks.

Start Inhibit FAQs

Will the Start Inhibit feature be made available for my 2024 F-150 truck?
Start Inhibit-capable vehicles require SYNC® 4, version 2.1.6.4 or later. ’24 or ’25 F-150 and Super Duty trucks currently on a prior SYNC version must update software to Version 2.1.6.4 or later to access Start Inhibit feature. Start Inhibit is not available on F-150 Lightning. We intend to make Start Inhibit available for select 2024 F-150 trucks in the near future.

Tap here for instructions on how to determine which SYNC 4 software you have.

Who has access to Start Inhibit on my vehicle?
Individuals who have been authorized with vehicle access in FordPass® have the ability to access Start Inhibit. The de-inhibit code is sent to the messages section of the FordPass app to all authorized users as well.

What happens if Start Inhibit is activated while the vehicle is in drive or currently running?
If the vehicle is on, and you attempt to inhibit the vehicle, it will continue to run until the vehicle is turned off. Once off, the vehicle will not start.

What happens if I try to remote start my vehicle and Start Inhibit is activated?
The vehicle will not start.

What if my vehicle is in Accessory Mode and I try to inhibit my vehicle?
While in accessory mode, the Start Inhibit request is stored but not applied. Once the vehicle is turned off, the vehicle will no longer start. You will see a “Slide to Cancel” command in FordPass during accessory mode should you wish to cancel the request.

What if I lose my phone or cannot find my de-inhibit passcode?
Call the call center at 1-866-861-0419. The agent will confirm your identity before helping to de-inhibit.

What if there is an emergency and my vehicle is inhibited?
If there is an emergency and someone is in danger or needs medical attention, please immediately call 911 or emergency services.

Stolen Vehicle Services FAQs

How does Stolen Vehicle Services work?
Stolen Vehicle Services uses various sensors and systems on your vehicle to monitor and report activity on your vehicle. The service will notify you of unusual or unexpected activity through the FordPass app.

What happens in the event of a theft?
In the event of theft, you can use the FordPass app to confirm the theft. This service then uses your vehicle’s cellular data connection and the ability to receive Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) data to track your vehicle. (Tracking can be affected by the loss of these signals, the coverage in your area, or the vehicle’s surroundings.)

Can I do a Factory Reset while my vehicle is stolen?
If you happen to attempt a factory reset during the time your vehicle is stolen, you’ll notice the function is unavailable. That’s intentional — a factory reset would hinder recovery efforts. If you need to perform a reset for some reason, you can enable the reset function for one hour with the FordPass® app — although we recommend waiting until after your vehicle is recovered.

What if my vehicle is stolen?
Stay safe. We’ll walk you through the steps to help you get your vehicle back. See the step-by-step process in the next section below.

Vehicle System Protection
We keep your vehicle connected in the event of theft. This ensures that only the authorized users can override the vehicle’s connectivity settings, and we can continue to track its location.

Where does Stolen Vehicle Services work?
Stolen Vehicle Services works in the United States and Canada. The service is not currently available in U.S. territories or commonwealths.

Why do I need to close the Power Tailgate to activate Stolen Vehicle Services?
The Power Tailgate (if equipped) for activation purposes is considered a door, and all doors must be closed before the initial activation of Stolen Vehicle Services.

Is the call center available 24/7?
Our agents are always available to help if your vehicle is stolen. They can provide the vehicle’s location to the police and help answer any questions on your mind. Contact them through the FordPass app or call 1-866-861-0419. For general questions, you can reach us at 1-866-861-0420.

Step-by-Step Process to Report, Recover, and Have Your Stolen Vehicle Returned

Once you’ve safely confirmed your vehicle is stolen:

Step 1 — Call the police

  • Your local law enforcement will help you file a report — make note of the police report number and contact information to provide to the Ford Call Center agent

Step 2 — Call us at 1-866-861-0419
You can call us at this number or through the FordPass® app. We’ll take it from here:

  • Our call center agent will verify the police report with law enforcement
  • Our agent will then begin tracking your vehicle’s location, as well as disable factory reset functionality
  • You will receive a confirmation email from our agent with a summary of the case details
  • Our call center will engage police to check for case updates, share updated locations, and request that you be updated by law enforcement

Step 3 — Your vehicle is recovered and returned

  • The police will let you know when your vehicle is recovered
  • Re-engage our call center to deactivate tracking and initiate Recovery Mode
  • You will receive a Recovery Mode confirmation email
  • Your vehicle is returned to you

These same steps can be found in this vehicle recovery checklist PDF if you’d like to print it out and take notes.

And at any time after you’ve activated the service, you can reach out to our dedicated call center 24/7 through the FordPass app — go to Account > Stolen Vehicle Services > Call Us.
