Where can I find my Ford's keyless entry code?

You can see the factory-set five-digit keyless entry code on your vehicle's information display by completing the steps below.

If your vehicle is a 2023 model year or older, you may also have it documented on a wallet-sized card that came with your vehicle's Owner’s Manual.

Viewing Your Keyless Entry Code

To access your factory-set keyless entry code, determine which key type your vehicle has.

Important: 

  • Ensure you are in a safe, well-ventilated area with the vehicle off and all doors closed.
  • Have both of your vehicle's programmed keys ready. If you do not have a second key, contact your Ford Dealer so they can further assist you.
  • Do not press the brake pedal throughout this process.
  • Before you begin, review all the steps as this process must be completed within 30 seconds of being started.

Integrated Keyhead Transmitters

To view the factory-set code on the information display:

  1. Insert one of your keys into the ignition.
  2. Turn the key to the "on" position, which is the last position before turning the key to start the vehicle. Do not turn the engine on.
  3. Wait 4 seconds and take out the first key.
  4. Insert the second key and turn it to the "on" position. Do not turn the engine on. Wait 4 seconds. 

The factory-set code will appear on the information display briefly. It may not display until after other warning messages have been displayed first.

Intelligent Access Keys (Push-Button Start with Key Fob)

To view the factory-set code on the information display:

  1. Locate the intelligent key backup slot
  2. Place the first programmed fob in the backup slot with the buttons facing down. 
  3. Press the START/STOP button once and wait 4 seconds.
  4. Press the START/STOP button again and remove the key.
  5. Insert the second programmed fob into the backup slot.
  6. Press the START/STOP button once and wait 4 seconds.
  7. Press the START/STOP button again and remove the key. 

The factory-set code will appear in the information display briefly. It may not display until after other warning messages have been displayed first.

For instructions specific to your vehicle, including the location of the backup slot, refer to your Owner’s Manual.

If you are unable to retrieve the keyless entry code, visit your preferred Ford Dealer as they may be able to use diagnostic equipment to obtain it. There may be a charge for this service. 

For security reasons, this information can only be provided to you in person by visiting the dealer. Once there, you must provide them with all the following: 

  • Personal identification such as a valid Driver's License, a state-issued picture identification, or a passport.
  • Vehicle documentation with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and your name on it (e.g., current Vehicle Registration, Certificate of Automobile Insurance, Vehicle Title, or Bill of Sale).
