How does Auto Start-Stop Technology work in my Ford?
Auto Start-Stop Technology (if equipped) can help reduce fuel consumption and vehicle emissions during city driving by switching off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop.
When you apply the brakes and come to a complete stop, like at a red light, your engine automatically shuts off. A light on the instrument cluster will indicate the engine is off. Your vehicle automatically restarts immediately once you take your foot off the brake pedal.
Notes:
- Auto Start-Stop may not shut your engine off if your vehicle's battery is charging, the engine is still warming up, or if you are using heat or air conditioning.
- Your vehicle is equipped with a heavy-duty starter and battery to help compensate for a high number of starts and stops.
