What is the Distance to Empty feature in my Ford?
When your fuel level starts to run low, you will see a low fuel level indicator in your instrument cluster and hear a chime alerting you when it is time to refuel. If your vehicle has a Distance to Empty feature, you can find out approximately how far you can drive on the remaining fuel in your vehicle.
The Distance to Empty is located on the first screen under Trip 1 or Trip 2 on the information display. Learn more about the Trip Computer feature in your vehicle here.
The system automatically resets itself each time you refuel.
Different driving styles can affect your Distance to Empty calculation. For example:
- If you do a lot of highway driving, your Distance to Empty warning may give you an earlier alert of up to 80 miles of remaining fuel.
- If you are towing a trailer or idling for extended periods, your Distance to Empty feature may alert you at 35 miles or less.
This video will explain the low fuel warning indicator light and how to locate the Distance to Empty feature.
