How do I clean my Ford?
We recommend using Motorcraft® products, or a mild soap and water solution to clean most of your vehicle. Follow our top cleaning tips below.
Refer to the "Vehicle Care" section in your Owner's Manual before purchasing any product to ensure it is compatible with your vehicle.
Interior Cleaning Tips
- Start your cleanup by vacuuming the carpet, seats, and dash. If your vacuum is equipped with attachments, use the brush to help dislodge stubborn dirt and the narrow crevice accessory to clean hard-to-reach spots like under the seats.
- Clean your vehicle's cloth seats, leather, vinyl, and seatbelts, with a damp cloth and a mild soap and water solution.
- Treat heavy stains on seats by spot-cleaning them with a fabric cleaner.
- Use a stain lifter to treat carpet and upholstery stains.
- Protect your vehicle's leather (after it has been cleaned and dried) by applying a small amount of leather conditioner.
- Shine up your interior trim pieces with a quality plastic and vinyl cleaner.
- Clean hard-to-reach crevices (e.g., the instrument cluster, emblems, switches, air vents, etc.) with cotton swabs.
- Gently clean windows and mirrors with a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
- Use a microfiber cloth to wipe in a circular motion to remove fingerprints and dust from your SYNC screen or information displays.
Exterior Cleaning Tips
- Inspect your vehicle frequently for any contaminants which may cause damage to your paintwork like bird droppings, bugs, tar, and tree sap. If any contaminants are found, make sure to gently remove them and clean the area immediately.
- Use a quality wax that does not contain abrasives to help protect your paint once or twice a year.
- Gently clean windows and mirrors with a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
- Clean the wiper blades with something soft (e.g., a soft sponge or cloth) and washer fluid or water. Make sure to also inspect them regularly for wear and replace as needed.
- Use a sponge and a mild soap and water solution to remove heavy deposits of dirt and brake dust from your wheels. Once completed, rinse well. You can also purchase a cleaner specifically for wheels, but before buying one, check your Owner's Manual to see which kind of wheel you have and what type of cleaner is recommended.
