How do I use Valet Mode with SYNC?

Valet Mode prevents others who have access to your vehicle from accessing your SYNC®* system by locking it with a 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). Use the instructions contained in this article to activate Valet Mode.

Enabling Valet Mode

Important: Your vehicle must be parked and running, and in an open location (e.g., free of overhead foliage, ceilings, etc.). 

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to turn on Valet Mode. If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, select the first drop-down option.  

Note: If your SYNC generation is not listed, it is not equipped with Valet Mode.

Identifying Your Vehicle's SYNC Generation

Your SYNC generation will appear on the right side of the page under the “SYNC Current Version” heading.

SYNC 4A

  1. Tap the Home icon or Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Controls.
  3. Press Valet Mode.
  4. Create a 4-digit PIN.
  5. Tap Done.

The system is now locked until the correct PIN is entered.

SYNC 4

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Tap Valet Mode.
  3. Select Yes when prompted by the pop-up.
  4. Create a 4-digit PIN.
  5. Press Done.

The system is now locked until the correct PIN is entered.

SYNC 3

  1. Press Settings on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Tap Valet Mode. A message will ask you to enter a PIN.
  3. Select Yes to continue.
  4. Enter a 4-digit PIN of your choice.
  5. Press Done.
  6. Re-enter the PIN to complete the process.

The system is now locked until the correct PIN is entered.

SYNCwith MyFord Touch®

  1. Press the Menu icon (gear) on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Tap Vehicle.
  3. Select Enable Valet Mode. A message will ask you to enter a PIN.
  4. Press Yes to continue.
  5. Enter a 4-digit PIN of your choice.
  6. Tap Enter.
  7. Re-enter the PIN to complete the process. 

The system is now locked until the correct PIN is entered.

SYNC with Voice-Activated Navigation

  1. Press the Menu hard button.
  2. Select the Valet Mode tab on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  3. Tap Enable Valet Mode.
  4. Enter a 4-digit PIN of your choice.
  5. Press Enter. The system will ask you to re-enter the PIN.
  6. Re-enter your PIN.
  7. Select Enable to activate Valet Mode.

The system is now locked until the correct PIN is entered.

Note: Instructions may vary. For information specific to your vehicle, refer to your Owner's Manual. 

*Don’t drive while distracted. Use voice-operated systems when possible; don’t use handheld devices while driving. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear. Not all features are compatible with all phones.
