Why is my spare tire different than the other tires?

Why is my spare tire different from the other tires on my Ford?

Your vehicle may be equipped with a non-matching or dissimilar spare wheel and tire assembly. A dissimilar spare wheel and tire assembly is defined as a spare wheel and tire assembly that is different in brand, size, or appearance from the road tires and wheels.

If you have a spare wheel and tire, then it is intended for temporary use only. If you need to use it, you should replace it as soon as possible with a tire that is the same size and type as the tires and wheels that were originally provided by Ford.

The Tire Finder can help you find the right replacement tire for your vehicle.

Notes:

  • Additional information on dissimilar spare tires can be found in your Owner's Manual under "Changing a Road Wheel" or "Changing Tires."
  • Some vehicles are equipped with a tire inflator and sealant kit instead of a spare tire. Find out more
  • Some vehicles may come with a spare tire the same size as your regular tires.
