Tire Replacement
Depending on your climate, storage conditions or level of use, your tires can start to look…tired. Ford recommends you replace your tires every six years or when they wear out, whichever comes first. Hot climates or frequent heavy loads may require more frequent changing and alignment. Follow these tips when the time comes to help ensure your vehicle drives straight, handles smoothly, and your tires wear evenly.
Tire Care
- Check your tires once per month before driving your vehicle. The safety certification label with this information can be found on the driver’s door jamb.
- Rotate tires at the recommended intervals indicated in your owner’s manual to help them wear more evenly.
- After rotating, check the inflation pressure and adjust the alignment if needed.
- Your tire alignment schedule can be found in your Owner’s Manual or maintenance guide.
Tire Replacement
- Always check your Owner’s Manual before changing a tire to locate the lift points and warning information for your vehicle. This is particularly important with electric vehicles so that you don’t damage the high-voltage battery while hoisting your vehicle to replace tires.
- Only use replacement tires that are the same size, load index, and speed rating specification as the vehicle was originally equipped with at purchase.
- Replace all tires when they are worn. If you choose to replace two tires at a time, replace your tires per axle and add the newest tires to the rear axle.
- Replace the spare tire when replacing the road tires or after six years (even if it has not been used).
