What is the Ford warranty outside the United States?
Warranty coverage for your Ford vehicle outside of the United States (U.S.), its territories, and Canada can vary based on the vehicle's model year and if the vehicle is permanently or temporarily located outside the U.S.
Warranty Coverage
Choose your model year from one of the drop-down options below for detailed information about Ford's U.S. warranty when the vehicle is outside the U.S. territories or Canada.
Pre-2023 Model-Year Ford Vehicles
The U.S. warranty applies to cars and light trucks* built for sale and use in the U.S. and the U.S. federalized territories that meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Ordered through a post exchange or ship’s store of the U.S. Armed Services and shipped to the U.S. federalized territories or a foreign country
- Purchased from and delivered directly by Ford Motor Company to entities such as the U.S. Government or the American Red Cross
- Originally registered/licensed and operated in the U.S. federalized territories of Puerto Rico, Guam, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, or any other U.S. federalized territory
- Purchased, registered/licensed, and operated in the U.S., but then taken by the owner, who did not buy the vehicle for resale purposes, to a U.S. federalized territory or any foreign country for business or personal use
Ford Dealers are encouraged to provide that warranty service at no cost to you. However, it may be necessary for you to pay the servicing dealer, save the repair order and receipt, and present the documentation to a dealer in the U.S. for refund consideration under the U.S. warranty.
2023 and Newer Model-Year Ford Vehicles
Temporarily Traveling Outside the Country of Purchase
Warranty coverage will apply to vehicles that are serviceable in the destination country, with the following exceptions:
- Vehicles that are purchased from an authorized Ford Dealer/distributor in the country of origin and the vehicle is not registered/licensed/titled and operated in the country of origin by the vehicle owner
- Repairs caused by improper or dirty fuels, lubricants, homologation (conversion to a motorsport vehicle), or market differences
Notes:
- It may be necessary for you to pay the servicing dealer and then present the paid invoice along with the vehicle to an authorized dealer/distributor in the country of purchase for refund consideration. Reimbursement will not be considered if your vehicle does not return to the country of purchase or home country.
- Serviceability and destination warranty coverage are at the sole discretion of Ford Motor Company.
Permanently Relocated Outside the Country of Vehicle Purchase
Warranty coverage will apply to vehicles that are serviceable by a dealer in the destination country, with the following exceptions:
- Vehicles that are imported specifically for the purpose of resale (e.g., gray imports)
- Vehicles that are purchased from an authorized dealer/distributor in the country of origin and the vehicle was not registered/licensed/titled and operated in the country of origin by the vehicle owner
- Repairs due to the use of improper or dirty fuels, lubricants, homologation (conversion to a motorsport vehicle), or market differences
Important: When permanently relocating outside the country of purchase, your vehicle will continue to have warranty coverage that will be less than or equal to the original country’s time and mileage limits. The dealer should apply whichever coverage is less. To verify coverages, contact the customer relationship center prior to your relocation.
Notes:
- Serviceability and destination warranty coverage are at the sole discretion of Ford Motor Company.
- Claims for Field Service Actions will be accepted if your vehicle is serviceable and the Field Service Action number is detailed on the claim.
- Claims may be accepted for vehicles sold through the Ford Export Operations Military Sales Program as long as your vehicle is serviceable.
Important: No responsibility will be accepted by Ford Motor Company for the following:
- Your vehicle, as manufactured, does not meet the operational specifications of the market for which it was not built for, including any legal requirements or penalties imposed by the government or other authorities.
- The effects of unauthorized modifications to a vehicle undertaken to comply with the legal or operational requirements of a market for which it was not built for.
*Light trucks are defined as any truck up to and including the F-550 series.
