What Is Trail Control?
Once upon a time, going off road meant leaving some conveniences in the rearview mirror. Now, thanks to things like available class-exclusive* Trail Control™, those days are behind you.
Similar to cruise control, Trail Control lets you select a desired speed and the system takes over, controlling acceleration and braking on challenging — sometimes rapidly changing — road conditions.** Now you can focus more on the trail in front of you than on the brake and gas pedals at your feet.
When activated, the technology can detect changes in trail topography and adjust in response. You can use Trail Control when you're:
- Crawling at up to 20 mph (32 kph) in 4WD or 4WD Lock
- Moving at up to 5 mph (8 kph) in Reverse (R)
How Do I Use Trail Control With My Ford Vehicle?
To switch Trail Control on and off, all you have to do is press the Trail Control button located on your console (top left buttons surrounding the G.O.A.T. Modes™ dial). The system switches off if you press the button or exceed 42 mph (68 kph).
How Do I Set My Ford Vehicle Trail Control Speed?
- Accelerate or decelerate to preferred speed
- On your steering wheel, select SET + to increase speed
- On your steering wheel, select SET − to decrease speed
- To cancel the set speed, simply press the X button
The set speed can also be adjusted by braking.
